Biography

Mimi Nguyen is a freshman from Lanham, Maryland studying psychology at the University of Maryland. Her creative hobby is writing works from prose to poetry to cathartic journaling, exploring the medium of writing to the fullest. She started sharing her poetry online because she felt that was the first step in building her hobby and also meeting other writers on the instagram poetry community. The main idea behind her writings lies in her emotional intelligence, sensitivity, and call to creating safe spaces for people to express themselves without fear of judgment. The best way to understand ourselves is through writing, and Mimi encourages those around her to tap into their creative reservoirs and deepest parts of themselves to reflect themselves authentically into words. She encourages people to better themselves through self-reflection and introspection, which is cultivated slowly through finding yourself by writing.
Mimi is excited to find yet another community in the Arts program where she can meet like minded people enthused about self-expression and the arts. She hopes to complete written pieces through the Arts curriculum, as well as immerse into the artistic skills of other people.
